What Happens During a Reiki Treatment
Time to stop, breathe and recharge
Life rarely gives us permission to simply stop.

A Reiki treatment gives you dedicated time away from the demands, distractions and constant thinking of everyday life — a chance to become still, deeply relax and focus on your own wellbeing.
Â
Whether you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, going through a period of change, or simply feel that you need some time for yourself, your Reiki session is created around YOU.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle form of energy healing that originated in Japan.
Â
During a treatment, you remain fully clothed and relax comfortably while I place my hands lightly on or just above different areas of your body.
Â
There’s nothing you need to do.
Â
You don’t need to concentrate, meditate or try to make anything happen. You can simply close your eyes, relax and enjoy having some uninterrupted time for yourself.
Why do people choose Reiki?
Everyone comes to Reiki for different reasons.
Â
You might be looking for a way to: feel calmer and more relaxed take some time away from stress and everyday pressures support your emotional wellbeing feel more grounded and balanced create some space for yourself during a period of change reconnect with yourself simply enjoy an hour when nobody needs anything from you
Â
You don’t need to have a particular problem to benefit from taking some time for yourself.
What happens during your Reiki treatment?
Before we begin
Before we begin we’ll spend a few minutes talking about how you’re feeling and anything you’d particularly like from your session.
Â
If it’s your first Reiki treatment, I’ll explain what will happen and answer any questions you have.
During your treatment
You’ll lie comfortably on the treatment couch, fully clothed.
Â
I’ll then work through a series of Reiki hand positions, either gently placing my hands on you or holding them a short distance above you.
Â
Many people simply close their eyes and drift into a very relaxed state.
Â
Afterwards
There’s no need to jump straight up and rush back into your day.
Â
You'll have a little time to come round gently, and we can talk about your experience if you’d like to.
What does Reiki feel like?
There isn't one particular way Reiki is supposed to feel.
Â
You might notice warmth or coolness, tingling, a feeling of heaviness or lightness, or simply a deep sense of relaxation.
Â
You might even fall asleep. And sometimes you may not notice any particular physical sensation at all.
Â
All of these experiences are perfectly normal.
Â
You don’t have to feel the energy for Reiki to be a relaxing and worthwhile experience.
Never tried Reiki before?
You don’t need to believe in Reiki, understand energy or consider yourself spiritual.
Â
Curiosity is enough.
Â
I’ve been practising Reiki for over 20 years, and my approach is warm, relaxed and down-to-earth. I'll explain everything before we start so you'll know exactly what to expect.
Â
Your only job is to get comfortable and allow yourself some time to switch off.
