Frequently Asked Questions

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a holistic healing practice that channels universal life energy to restore physical, emotional, and spiritual balance.

How does it work?

By placing hands on or near the body, we facilitate the flow of energy to clear blockages and promote natural healing.

What to expect?

There isn't one particular way Reiki is supposed to feel.

You might notice warmth or coolness, tingling, a feeling of heaviness or lightness, or simply a deep sense of relaxation. You might even fall asleep. And sometimes you may not notice any particular physical sensation at all. All of these experiences are perfectly normal.

You don’t have to feel the energy for Reiki to be a relaxing and worthwhile experience.

Is it safe?

Yes, Reiki is completely safe for all ages and conditions. It is a gentle therapy that works with your body's own energy.

In-person vs Distant?

In-person sessions allow for direct physical touch and a more immersive experience. Distant healing is equally effective and can be done from anywhere.

How often?

There’s no set time or number of treatments. Some people come for a Reiki treatment occasionally when they feel they need it, while others prefer regular sessions as part of their wellbeing routine.  Sometimes when you're dealing with a particular problem, a course of 3 treatments is recommended.  We're happy to discuss what you need.  There’s no pressure to book a course of treatments.

What should I wear?

Whatever you feel comfortable in. Reiki is given fully clothed, so loose, comfortable clothing that you can lie down in is ideal.

Will you touch me?

Reiki can be given with a light touch or with my hands held slightly above your body. If you prefer a completely hands-off treatment, just let me know.

Is Reiki suitable for children?

Yes. Reiki is gentle and non-invasive and can be enjoyed by babies and children as well as adults.

Sessions for children can be shorter than adult treatments and adapted to their age and individual needs. They remain fully clothed throughout, and Reiki can be given without physical contact if they prefer.

I will always explain what is going to happen in a way the child can understand, and it is important to me that they feel comfortable and happy to take part. A parent or guardian must be present in the room for children under 16.

Can Reiki replace medical treatment?

No. Reiki is a complementary wellbeing practice and isn't a substitute for appropriate medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
